About Cascade

Overview of Cascade

Cascade Hydro Limited (“Cascade”) is a British developer, constructor and operator of run-of-river hydropower projects in Peru.

The company was established in 2011 to develop a portfolio of hydro-electric plants in Peru primarily based on sub 20 MW renewable energy resources (“RER”) power purchase agreements (“PPAs”) awarded by the Peruvian government. To date it has assembled a portfolio of some 200 MW of small hydro run-of-river projects of which some 35 MW have been fully developed and have won PPAs at tender.

Additionally, Cascade owns the large 255 MW Santa Rita Power Project in northern Peru which will participate in any future tender rounds for larger hydro power plants.

Cascade opened its offices in Lima in November 2011 and currently has four employees.

The first hydro power plant developed by Cascade was the 5.1 MW Canchayllo power plant in Junin. The plant was built by Cascade’s Peruvian in-house construction subsidiary and commenced commercial operation on schedule on 31 December 2014. In July 2015 the fully operational Canchayllo hydro plant was sold to Union Group of Uruguay.

In December 2013 Cascade submitted three projects for PPAs of 30 MW in total into the third RER tender round and was successful with all three projects being awarded PPAs. However, due to the former parent company’s capital constraints, Cascade has to date only proceeded with the Colca power project of 15 MW, where initial construction works have commenced, with the other two projects being held for a later stage.

In January 2018 Sloane Renewable Energy Limited acquired Cascade with a view to completing the construction of the Colca power plant and continuing to expand its portfolio through its renewed development activities.

Cascade has a portfolio of around 200 MW of small sub 20 MW projects in various stages of development, of which 30 MW are fully developed, as well as the 255 MW large scale Santa Rita Project.

About Us

Cascade was established in 2011 to develop hydro-electric plants in Peru.

Now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sloane Renewable Energy Limited, we have a portfolio of some 450 MW of run-of-river hydro projects, with more in the future.

Investment Opportunities

We believe there is great potential in Peru, and have several projects in development that could give renewable electricity to millions, and improve their quality of life.
